History of Richmond Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Richmond has a long and proud history of service to the Hawkesbury community. For decades, generations of Richmond Rotarians have volunteered their time, skills and energy to support local people, schools, organisations and community events. Fundraising has always been an important part of this work, from working bees and golf days to the Club's longstanding involvement with the Hawkesbury Show. Records show Richmond Rotary was already an active part of Hawkesbury community life.

Richmond Rotary has also played a role in the growth of Rotary throughout the Hawkesbury. The Club sponsored the formation of the Rotary Club of Kurrajong-North Richmond in 1978 and the Rotary Club of Hawkesbury in 1996, helping extend Rotary's tradition of fellowship and community service across the region.

Over time, the Club's service has extended well beyond the Hawkesbury. Since 2011, Richmond Rotary has maintained a partnership with the Rotary Club of Panglao Island in Bohol, Philippines, supporting projects including children's nutrition and the Little Angels Orphanage. Locally, the Club continues to contribute through community events and fundraising activities including Richmond Carols, the Hawkesbury Show, the Sydney Super Swap Meet, BBQs, raffles and numerous other community initiatives.

 

While the projects and faces have changed over the years, the purpose of Richmond Rotary has remained constant: bringing people together in friendship and service to make a positive difference. Today, Richmond Rotary continues this tradition, building on the contribution of generations of Rotarians while looking for new ways to serve the Hawkesbury and communities further afield.
