Global Classification System

The classification system is a multi-layered framework designed to map, measure, and compare lived experience movements across countries, states, and regions. It combines structure (what exists), performance (how strong it is) and development (where it sits). The Three Core Layers of the classification system include:

1. Functional Classification (6 Dimensions): What the system does. This layer identifies the core functions that make up a lived experience system: Peer Leadership, Workforce, Spaces, Communication, Crisis and Alternatives. This defines the architecture of the system.

2. Performance Assessment (13 Dimensions): How well the system works. This layer evaluates system strength across 13 dimensions, including movement strength, peer delivery, workforce scale, infrastructure, education, alternatives, innovation, policy integration, workforce development, research and knowledge, system coherence, system integration and overall readiness. Each dimension is scored (typically 1–5), producing a readiness profile.

3. Developmental Classification: Where the system sits. Systems are then classified along a development pathway of emergence, organisation, integration, systemisation and maturity. This shows the stage of evolution.
