Global Movement
The final part of this website embarks on a journey of exploration, offering recommendations on how the lived experience movement can become a unified global force for change. It firmly advocates that the movement, with its valuable players and components, is already complete; what is needed is standardisation and systematic implementation in parts of the world where the movement has had less impact due to assorted reasons. The website emphasises that the movement's core structures, principles, and values have a solid foundation. It proposes creating a ledger with standardised measures to unite practices and ensure that progress can be objectively assessed.

Lived Experience Global Platform
The comprehensive mapping exercise in Lived Experience Power identified the key stakeholders involved in the global lived experience movement. This mapping provides a crucial foundation for structuring a global lived experience framework that builds upon the existing organisations, initiatives, and networks. Rather than creating new structures, this approach seeks to unify, strengthen, and coordinate existing efforts to fully realise the movement’s potential.
To achieve this, Lived Experience Power advocates for establishing a range of institutions designed to support, institutionalise, and sustain the movement at both global and national levels. These proposed institutions include:
Lived Experience Agency
A Lived Experience Agency comprises six independent bodies focusing on lived experience leadership, advocacy, and policy development.
Lived Experience Congress
A Lived Experience Congress would serve as a global forum for discussion, decision-making, and representation of lived experience perspectives.
Global Networks
Global Networks, facilitating collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and collective action among lived experience organisations and advocates worldwide.
National Bodies
National bodies are tasked with organising and coordinating the movement within individual countries while aligning with global principles and frameworks.

The core objectives of these institutions include:
Platform
Establishing and maintaining a global platform to unify and amplify lived experience voices.
Global Policies
Institutionalizing global policies that ensure lived experience perspectives are embedded in decision-making at all levels.
Global Lived Experience Framework
Initiating a global lived experience framework, providing a cohesive advocacy, research, and implementation structure.
Collaborating Platform
Creating and sustaining a collaboration platform, fostering stakeholder partnerships and cooperation.

United Institutions
The Global Agency, Congress, and Global Networks form a unified global framework that integrates with national bodies, connecting local, state, and national organisations and initiatives into a cohesive global system. This interconnected structure ensures that the power and impact of lived experience advocacy are felt at the international level and resonate locally, where the real work of transformation takes place.
Through this structure, global guidance supports local action, creating a dynamic feedback loop that aligns national and regional efforts with global objectives. The collaboration between global agencies, congress, and networks provides comprehensive support for grassroots organisations, ensuring they have access to international expertise, resources, and research while empowering them to implement solutions that suit their local communities. This helps to overcome barriers to action and strengthens local initiatives through strategic international collaboration. The movement amplifies local voices internationally by linking local, state, and national organisations to a global platform. Local efforts gain visibility and recognition within the global context, leading to increased advocacy and attention from international bodies, governments, and donors. This alignment can lead to more effective policy changes, more efficient resource allocation, and enhanced capacity-building efforts. The global framework also creates a united force for systemic change, ensuring that mental health reforms, consumer rights, and the empowerment of lived experience leaders are prioritised in both national and international agendas. Local, state and national actions work in conjunction with global campaigns, advocacy, and initiatives, creating a more cohesive and coordinated push toward reforming mental health systems worldwide.
The Global Agency, Congress, and global networks collaborate to establish a robust and dynamic unified global framework. By connecting local, state, and national bodies to the international system, this framework promotes worldwide guidance for local action, ensuring that the lived experience movement is both globally coordinated and locally impactful. This integrated approach ensures that mental health advocacy and recovery-focused initiatives are widespread, inclusive, and effective in bringing about lasting change worldwide.

What A Unified Movement Offers People With Lived Experience
The lived experience movement serves as a unifying force, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives under a shared vision of mental health that prioritises hope, empowerment, and recovery. Whether through consumer-run initiatives, alternatives to traditional psychiatry, anti-stigma campaigns, peer workforce involvement, or mad studies, the movement embodies these core values, providing individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges with a sense of optimism and possibility.
At the heart of the lived experience movement is the belief in the transformative power of hope. By fostering a sense of optimism and possibility, the movement instils in individuals the belief that recovery is attainable and that they have the agency to shape their journey toward wellness. This message of hope serves as a beacon of light for those navigating the complexities of mental health challenges, offering reassurance and encouragement along the way.
Empowerment is another key pillar of the lived experience movement. Through initiatives prioritising consumer participation and representation, individuals are empowered to take an active role in their care and shape the systems and services affecting their lives. By amplifying their voices, the movement seeks to challenge power imbalances and promote greater autonomy, self-determination, and dignity for individuals with lived experience. Additionally, the lived experience movement emphasises the importance of recovery as a holistic and individualised process. The movement recognises that there are many pathways to wellness, whether through peer support, self-help strategies, or alternative approaches to treatment and care. By embracing a diversity of perspectives and experiences, the movement celebrates the resilience and strength of individuals on their recovery journeys.
The lived experience movement embodies a philosophy of hope, empowerment, and recovery that transcends traditional notions of mental health. By uniting individuals around these shared values, the movement fosters a sense of solidarity and community, creating spaces where individuals can find support, validation, and a sense of belonging. In doing so, the lived experience movement challenges stigma and discrimination, paving the way for a more inclusive and compassionate approach to mental health for all.
By formalising these structures, the lived experience movement can evolve into a globally coordinated effort, maximising its impact while preserving the authenticity and autonomy of its diverse contributors. The remainder of the Lived Experience Hub provides a detailed overview of how such a movement would be structured, governed, and operated, ensuring its sustainability and effectiveness in shaping policies, practices, and cultural shifts on a global scale.
